We have definately kept busy this Summer with major and minor projects. Ethan had spent time staining and adding to the swingset that had recently come into our possession from a great family. Ethan had also taken time to build the base under our front-loading washer and dryer for raising the level of them so that I could be more comfortable doing the laundry (something we had planned on doing for a while). Busy man eh? :)
Our newest project is tiling the kitchen floor and entryway. We are still in the process of finishing this project, but I will post pictures when everything is finished.
Basically, we were working with about 180 square feet of space in the kitchen to cover, and half of it was an ugly dirty-looking vinyl, and half was the berber carpet we have in our living room. The carpet was under our dining room table and just wasn't fun to get stains out of each time Preston tossed something over board, or accidentally made a mess. This was something we'd put on our list-of-things-to-do from the first week we moved into the house now (that'll be about five years in October). I'm so excited to be able to clean up messes easier! :)
As of today, we have already pulled the carpet and vinyl up, and layed the tiles down into the thinset (or mortar). All that needs to be done now is a clean grout job (we're going to use grout-boost in our grout mix, rather than water, so that we'll "never need to seal the grout"), and about 24 hours of drying time.
Our fridge and stove are sitting in the living room with us, along with our kitchen table, and various necessity items for eating while we can't step on the floor.
We'll let you know when we're done and post lots of pics! :)
